So I finally had the chance to get to the dentist...ugh! I think it's been almost 11(?) years since last time. Mmm, not so good. Apparently I look after my teeth better than most, but still need some fillings...well, lots of them. Oh well.
On a much happier note, yesterday I made 2 more of the dolls I've been working on. They were originally designed as a set of "ethnic dolls" for learning with preschoolers, but the order fell through, so now I'm just going to dress them and sell them as normal dolls.
I'm thinking overalls for their clothes, girly ones and boy ones too. I also need to work out the hair and how to do their faces. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm actually really looking forward to getting them finished, whether I sell them or not. Maybe everyone I know under 5 or so will get one for Christmas.
I'm also working on the design a little bit more. Trying to decide whether or not I should keep the arms as separate pieces, or make the whole doll in one. I like that the arms can swing back and forth a little, but it's a bit fiddly and time consuming getting them into the doll. I've been stuffing them first, but maybe I'll try another one stuffing them after stitching them on...I'm not sure...They're surprisingly quick to whip up, however, they would be much quicker if the arms were less fiddly...Then the hair and faces, clothes and accessories are really going to add the time onto them. Hopefully I can get faster at these things as I do them more too.
I'm planning on selling the pattern though, so I really need to work out the best way of doing all of these things, I guess.
I'm hoping to get some more done for these dolls over the next week or so and maybe I'll be posting some more about them soon. But for now I'm off to get some much needed sleep. So Goodnight!
