Friday Fun One!

So, it's been well over a year since my last post, which is due to a number of reasons really, mainly not having the internet at home. I do now though, so for as long as it isn't raining I can start to write new posts.

Today is Friday and it was a fun one. A couple of friends who have been a part of my life for longer than I can really remember came to visit. It was lovely. I have an extra child since the last time I was able to catch up with one of the girls, so it was especially nice for her to meet the new addition and for both to catch up with the slightly older one too.

In the hours after my friends left my home I've been reminded of how important it is to have friends. Friends make life on Earth so much more bearable. There are so many poems about friends and friendship and we overlook them all  to often. Friendship really is a wonderful gift from God and it should be treasured. These friends of mine have been through a lot of ups and downs with and without me and now being a "grown up" I'm realising just how blessed I've been with them as part of my life. They have inspired me in continuing my journey of life, love and family...
...plus a little bit more craft.

So in honour of my old buddies here is a quilt which I made years ago - my first one actually - made alongside one of these 2 girls. I designed it and made it over a series of quilting parties (I know, seems a bit daggy for 2 teenagers). I'm considering making another one with the same pattern, using different fabrics, just to see how it goes...

This is the front...

This is the back...

Thanks for visiting us, Beth and Sarah!

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"

  1. Aw, Manda! What a lovely post! I remember that quilt too :)
You'll be glad to know that we've decided not to move to Wagga. We went on the weekend to visit and decided it's too far from friends and family. And this post reminded me again of how special and how deep the roots of some of the friendships we have here go.
    Looking forward to seeing more!
Better get back to making milo-flavoured porridge... a bit of an experiment to make porridge more appealing.
