Wednesday! Watermelons! Fun!

The photo today is supposed to be of "fun", and Wednesday is such a busy day for me, but I've decided that the challenge for me with this photo-a-day thing is actually to only use 1 photo for each subject. So in saying that the one for today is of something that is always fun, usually a challenge and was made even better today by the presence of my awesome cousin "Big Matt". So, thanks Big Matt, Nana and kidlets for giving me this time.

If you didn't know already, I love Scrabble and I play every Wednesday with my Nana. I won today's game, but sometimes it's easier to get large scores when you have the X, Q, J, 2 C's, H, and a P or two.

But, thanks to everyone else who I saw today, "Grunty Liz", Leyne, "The Ladies", Nanny Lola and Hubby, I had another awesome Wednesday!

Now I guess you're wondering where the watermelons come into it? Well, I was searching for something tonight and came across these carved watermelons and thought they looked cool, but were a bit of a waste of a good watermelon. I know more than a few people who would prefer to carve a hole in the top of it and pour in some vodka...I thought they were cool though, and admire the skill involved. Needless to say that i was so distracted that i completely forgot whatever it was i started searching for.

 

May Challenge Day Thirty

Woo! Wednesday...and it was strange today because I had to be home earlier than usual to talk to someone about my house renos. I haven't done that very often before...

I went to craft this morning like normal, late, and we made more quilts to send to Tanzania which is great! I love spending time with "the ladies" and chatting about all the different lives we have.

Now, with both kidlets in bed at the same time, I'm off to do some stitching, and maybe some tea...Decaf of course.

For those of you who read my blog, I only have 1 day left of my May Challenge, so I might need to find a different kind of challenge for June. Let me know if you have any ideas...

May Challenge Day Sixteen

Wednesday already! I feel like I'm losing time or something. It feels like I was only just writing about Wednesday yesterday...

Today was really good, I was up early, went to craft, started stitching the flowers and saw 2 great Nanas. Like I said it was really good. I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere now and it's motivating me to keep working and get the rest done. It's a good feeling.

I also got to help with a new craft friend's quilt today. It's a beautiful quilt with different shades of pink made up into blocks and borders and a yellow backing with appliqued butterflies. My friend is in a wheel chair a lot of the time and has trouble getting down on all fours and also cannot reach around tables quite well enough to lay her quilt out, so I helped her along with my Aunty and we pinned the layers together for her to sew around at home. It's a beautiful quilt, quite girly, but beautiful and she didn't even use a pattern! My friend is not very confident and being able to help her and give her advice is great. It is helping me to really value my life as it is and the time and means I have available to me for craft and other things that other people may not have. 

Enough with the warm fuzzies now though, I need to get to bed so I'm ready for a new day and more stitching tomorrow.

May Challenge Day Nine

Wednesday is mine!

I take the kids and a pile of kid related stuff (nappies, spare clothes, crafty things, toys, foods, sometimes I feel like we're moving out) and head out for a long day. We're out of the house for 11 hours...

I love it because we go to craft with "Grunty Liz" and "the ladies" (Other than my aunty, myself and the kids, the average age of the crafters is about 75). Here we spend most of the time chatting and sometimes fit in some craft too.

After craft we visit Great Nana for lunch and Scrabble (Yes, I'm a nerd), then we do the grocery shopping, then on to Nanny Lola's for dinner with Daddy and then home...a long day, pretty much the reason I tend to spend most of the week at home.

Over the past 6-8 months I've just been taking my teddy cross-stitch to craft, which is partly because I'm lazy and don't want to pack up other projects to take, and partly because it's one of those projects that I just do not do when I'm at home (it now lives in the car). While we were at craft this morning I couldn't focus enough to concentrate on the stitching, so instead I used my little assistant's ball of wool and did some four-finger knitting which left most of the ladies intrigued and got us all talking about the weird and wonderful techniques we knew about using yarn. Most of us know how to knit and/or crochet, but we were talking about Tunisian crochet and Knooking and a couple of other things. It was very inspiring and I have spent the last 2 hours googling these things and absolutely no time on my quilt, so sorry, but no progress to report from today. But I'm heading to bed with a head full of ideas and inspiration, so hopefully that means I'll have beautiful dreams and maybe a productive Thursday...hahaha.
