Sewtember Day Thirty - Quick re-cap

Wow! How fast did Sewtember go!?! I'm totally overwhelmed by the number of things I didn't get done and still need to do, but I'm also really happy with the things I did do this month. Here is a quick run down of the things I finished over the last few weeks. Click on the link for each one to see the original post.

I know it's only the top, but the top is finished! Actually, I just love it. One day I'll get around to finishing the rest of it.

It's a shame I didn't get to do faces. Maybe next month.

Thanks for joining me throughout this month. I hope you were all productive too. I'm looking forward to another Sewtember next year.

See you in SWAPtober!

Sewtember Day Twenty-Seven - Getting things done. Or not.

The place-mats are finished! I really like them and I really don't know whether the person I made them for will. That's annoying. Anyway, here are some pics of the finished product.

I like how it looks on the back too.

Oh, I was so excited today to receive my first purchase from Spoonflower!

Cute hey?!

Have you ever been to checkout their website? I have spent many hours trawling through pages and pages of fabrics looking for...well, just looking really. Have I told you that eventually I want to design my own fabrics? Well, finding this company has just made me want it even more!

Having finished 2 projects this week, I'm becoming slightly more confident that I might actually get enough presents made for our whole family. I really don't want to shop for presents. Neither of us know what to get for people. We all have enough stuff, so whatever we give people needs to be special. And preferably "on special" if we end up buying something. So I've done at least one of the things on my list to give to our family, partly done a couple of others and only have about 23 to go....EEEK!! That's about 2.5 things per week. I know there are more weeks than that, but I also have 2 kids parties to plan and host, plus my own birthday, where I'll make myself a cake, maybe buy myself a flower and get a big hug and kiss from my family. Oh yeah, and I need to make a formal dress or 2. The other thing is that we celebrate Christmas at different times too, one of which is early in December, so some things need to be ready way before the others. I also know a bunch of people who are due to have babies in or around December, so I need to think about them too...ok, confidence gone. Oh well. Maybe when I finish something else it will be back to help me through.

I better go and get some more work done while the kids are both asleep, at the same time. Oh wait, nup not asleep any more. I better go.

Night!

Sewtember Day Twenty-Six - Short and sweet

Last night I showed you one of the place-mats turned the right way. Now they are all turned and I'm going to start "ladder stitching" the openings closed.

I actually like them more each time I look at them, which is a little unusual, but very confidence boosting.

Anyway, it's late and we've been out ALL DAY! I'm really tired and I need to sit down and do the hand stitching. I'll be back tomorrow.

Sweet dreams!

Sewtember Day Twenty-Five - Triumphant Tuesday

I got a fair bit done today. I even had the kids inside for most of it, which is different. I guess having my assistant occupied with small jobs like sorting my buttons into little jars really helps. What doesn't help is losing velcro! I really needed it to do something which took 4 minutes in the end, but over 2 hours was wasted looking for the velcro! Oh well, I still got stuff done, so that's the main thing.

The first thing I was working on was the cape for an order. You might have seen the "C" emblem in past posts. Well, now it's finished and in the bag ready for delivery. Woo! Here is a very quick how-to style run of pics from the next step.

Then turn through the opening at the curve and top-stitch around the whole cape.

Now try it out!

What do you think? My assistant thought it was pretty cool, so I deem it a success!

Ok, the next project for today was the flower place-mats I started a few weeks back. Here you can see where I was up to. And here is what I did today.

I think they're going to look really pretty when they're finished. Then I'll just need to wrap them.

Anyway, I'm off to watch something on TV, by myself! Hasn't happened for a while, and I'm sick of having to justify why I want to watch a particular show. I don't really care if someone else thinks it's lame. I like it.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more progress pics, I hope...

Sweet dreams!

Sewtember Day Twenty-Four - Monday

I did some much needed catching up today. I have a couple of friends who live about 20 minutes drive from here and we used to catch up all the time. But there has been SO MUCH going on for all of us that we haven't had a chance to see each other for ages. So today we did it and it was so great! I really miss seeing them and I wish things would calm down a little so it would happen again. I should have taken photos of our three girls running around and playing with each other. It's cool to see how they develop and change the way they interact with their friends. Today they would have little conversations of their own, not prompted or assisted by us. It actually made for some really good (uninterrupted) chatting between us too.

Talking about catching up, for those of you who I haven't seen in a while, here a some pics of the kidlets from the weekend. They are growing up so fast!

This is Alleyne entertaining the kidlets at Great Nana's on Saturday.

Here is my assistant looking so very grown up.

My sister also came with us which was exciting. We used to spend more than a few hours a week catching up and hanging out, but she has since moved about 40 minutes away from here and is completing her final year of university and so again it has been hard to fit in those times. Today we were able to chat for 2 car trips and it was fantastic. I miss seeing her too. It can get pretty lonely staying at home with a baby and a toddler. We can go almost a week without leaving the house sometimes. Mostly it's good though, just every now and then I realise I haven't had a real conversation with a friend and I feel a tad isolated.

Here is B-man learning to drive steer. Such a Daddy's boy!

How cheeky is that face?!

I was going to add a photo here of the sewing that I did today, it's the applique on the "C" emblem from the other day, but the photo is not really good enough to see the stitching, so it looks just the same as before. It's almost done and ready for me to assemble, so that's exciting. I know it's not a huge or detailed project, but finishing things is always exciting. Also the idea that finishing one means starting a new one. Yay! This one should be done by tomorrow and then I'm back on to those place-mats and all the other things on the Christmas gift list. I can't believe it's so close. I went to the shops yesterday and there was a whole aisle of Christmas decorations, gift bags and glitter everywhere(I'm so glad I don't work in retail anymore). I used to spend days trying to get all the glitter out of my hair and off my clothes. I don't envy the people who have to deal with it everyday.

Guess who found Mummy's sunnies.

Anyway it's pretty late and I still haven't recovered from my busy weekend, so I'm off to the land of nod.
I'll see you tomorrow, hopefully with better photos of the work I've been doing.

Sweet dreams!
